Online Buying.

Buying History.

It seemed that for the longest time I would go online to see what a reasonable price was and then go out in town and find a store that had it for close to the same price.  Initially I wasn't too hip on the idea of buying things online.  I like being able to have a person close by to blame if the thing I bought doesn't work.  More and more though, I have begun buying the items online.  It started with computer stuff mostly and now I also buy car parts this way.  However, I can see myself buying clothes like this.

Auctions.

I have bought and sold a few things online, mostly on eBay.  I have also realized that some people bidding don't the true value of what they are bidding on.  I've seen prices higher than what I can buy it for out in town.  Maybe, after a while the need to win sets in and common sense goes out the window.  this sucks if you are the buyer, but if you're the seller- woohoo!  Also, it always seems to cost twice as much to ship anything as one would think it should.

Deals.

I've noticed that many of the "deals" online aren't.  Yes, the item is 10 dollars less that your local store, but shipping is $15.  Not much of a deal.  I've also seen where items are free, all you have to pay is $6.95 in shipping and handling.  I wouldn't think that the cost of making the CD's in bulk is much more that a few cents and to ship it can't be more that 2 or 3 dollars. Sounds like to me there are a few dollars un accounted for and that the CD isn't free.  While a couple of bucks for a CD isn't much, why do they have to be so underhanded.

I'm still a face-to-face kind of guy.

I'm a whole lot more comfortable dealing with a person than with a phone call of computer menu.  Of course on most computerized phone calls you can press 0 and get an operator, but the company doesn't tell you that do they?  I also can't "read" people over the phone.  Oh, and what's up with calling my house at 9am on a Saturday morning.  Do you really think I going to be happy that you woke me up to tell me you can save me a few pennies?  You could be Publishers Clearinghouse calling to congratulate me on winning 3 million dollars and I will still give you a piece of my mind.  And the phone companies in their wisdom now offer a service that I have to PAY for to block telemarketers from calling me from the list they bought from the phone company in the first place.  Grrr!
